DOI issues new arrival and departure protocols

Kathmandu: The Department of Immigration (DoI)has issued a new arrival and departure protocols at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to come into effect from September 1.

According to the new directive for protocol to be followed at the airport the arrival visa will remain suspended which was started from March 22 due to Covid-19 pandemic.

On arrival visa will be issued to the foreigners holding diplomatic and official passports or to employees at various diplomatic missions and sectors associated with the UN agencies, and other development partners.

However, the DOI directive also allows the officials to issue arrival visas to foreigners who have already obtained official permission from the government to enter Nepal.

Any foreigner entering Nepal will have to produce the evidence of PCR report which should be negative and not more than 72 hours old enough.

Fourteen days’ stay in home quarantine is also mandatory for the foreigners and the foreigners whose names are already forwarded by the Ministry of Home and foreign affairs will be given arrival visa.

Nepali citizens leaving the country in foreign employment, and others including businesspersons and students, will be allowed to depart on producing the official documents and valid passports.

Nepalis intending to leave the country for medical treatment and others for visiting their family members abroad will be granted permission for departure on submitting valid documents added the DOI directive.
