TIA officials should be respectful to tourists: DPM Shrestha

After an onsite visit at the TIA on Saturday, Shrestha asked the authorities to make the airport’s help desks effective and transfer the entire activities of the airport into a digital system.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister directed the officials to propose the restructuring of the TIA within 15 days for immediate and long-term reforms.
The DPM said that the airport was a very sensitive area in terms of national security and added that no exemption would be granted to the trends and activities that weaken the airport’s sensitivity. “An international airport is national identity. We need to be highly active,” he added.
Likewise, Shrestha asked the officials deployed at the TIA to be highly respectful to foreign tourists coming to Nepal and Nepali labor migrant workers going abroad.
He argued that the entrance gate of the tourists should be the entrance of the concerned nation’s culture and civilization.
Similarly, DPM Shrestha stated that additional hassles, mistreatment, and stresses to the migrant workers would not be tolerable, stating that the remittance from abroad has contributed significantly to the country’s economy.
Home Secretary Binod Prakash Singh, Director General of the Department of Immigration Jhalak Ram Adhikari, chief of TIA Immigration Office Ram Babu Subedi, General Manager of TIA from Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Pratap Babu Subedi, and security officials were present on the occasion (rss).
